Job Title

DRAM Device & Process Modeling Engineer

Role Summary

Embedded modeling engineer within Process Integration for DRAM R&D. Develop and apply semiconductor device and process modeling to guide technology decisions and accelerate DRAM scaling from R&D toward manufacturing.

Work in a cross-functional R&D environment using simulation, device physics, and experimental validation to provide predictive insights for future DRAM memory technologies.

Experience Level

Mid-level: requires advanced technical experience in semiconductor device and process modeling. Specific years of experience not stated.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities focus on modeling, simulation, validation, and cross-functional technical leadership to support DRAM technology development.

  • Develop and apply semiconductor process and device models to address technology challenges and inform process development decisions.
  • Perform TCAD and other advanced simulations (Silvaco, Sentaurus, or comparable tools) to analyze process interactions and device behavior.
  • Design experiments and analyze results using DOE and statistical methods; correlate simulation with experimental and silicon data to improve models.
  • Collaborate with Process Integration, Process Development, Device Engineering, Yield, Failure Analysis, Parametric, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to identify and resolve issues.
  • Summarize technical problems and recommendations; build consensus and drive solutions across teams.
  • Define and deliver sub-milestones for modeling projects within larger technology programs.
  • Provide simulation-driven insights that enable transfer of R&D technologies into manufacturing.

Requirements

Required technical skills and experience. Education requirements are listed separately below.

  • Must-have: Practical experience with semiconductor device physics and modeling.
  • Must-have: Hands-on experience using TCAD, Silvaco, Sentaurus, or comparable process/device modeling tools.
  • Must-have: Experience correlating simulation results with experimental or silicon data.
  • Must-have: Proficiency in data analysis, DOE, and statistical techniques.
  • Must-have: Demonstrated ability to solve complex semiconductor technology problems using modeling, simulation, and experimental methods.
  • Must-have: Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience developing predictive models for advanced nodes or across memory/logic/analog/RF/MEMS domains.
  • Nice-to-have: Track record of successful collaborations in dynamic, multi-tasking teams and evidence of driving projects toward manufacturing transfer.

Education Requirements

Required: MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or a related technical field, plus demonstrated semiconductor industry experience. Preferred: PhD in one of the listed fields.
