Division FaST Regional Development Applications Engineer (PhD new-grad eligible)

Role Summary

Work in KLA's FaST (Film and Scatterometry Technology) division within the Global Products Group to drive customer adoption of metrology tools. The role focuses on customer demonstrations, head-to-head comparisons, experiment design, and collaboration with system and algorithm/software teams to develop data analysis methods and support new feature testing and wafer demonstrations.

Experience Level

Mid-level. Position targets candidates with an MS degree and approximately 0–7 years of experience; PhD new graduates are also eligible.

Responsibilities

Primary duties include customer-facing demonstrations, experimental characterization, and cross-team collaboration.

  • Manage in-house customer demonstrations and run head-to-head comparisons at customer sites.
  • Conduct new tool demonstrations to showcase tool performance and develop use cases supporting sales.
  • Design experiments to characterize tool and subcomponent performance and support alpha/beta/pilot testing during product ramp.
  • Develop data analysis methods in collaboration with system and algorithm/software teams.
  • Support offline/online activities for new feature tests and wafer demonstrations for next-generation tools.

Requirements

Required and preferred technical skills and attributes.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills (required).
  • Ability to design and execute experiments and present results to customers and internal teams.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and ability to collaborate effectively with software/algorithm developers.
  • Understanding of fab processes is highly preferred.
  • Experience with optical critical dimension (OCD) and X-ray metrology is a plus.

Education Requirements

MS or higher in Physics, Optics, Electronics, Mechanics, Materials, or a related technical field. PhD candidates/new graduates are explicitly eligible. Posting indicates MS (0–7 years) and allows PhD new grads.
