Job Title

Distinguished Engineer - Memory Architecture

Role Summary

Join NVIDIA's GPU memory architecture team to define DRAM and memory architecture across datacenter, client, automotive, robotics, and edge-AI products. The role leads long-term technical strategy for memory interfaces, SRAM requirements, hardware/software interfaces, and micro-architectural trade-offs that drive performance-per-watt improvements across multiple silicon generations.

Short-term and long-term work spans architecture, vendor co-design, silicon trade-offs, and mentoring technical leaders.

Experience Level

Senior β€” requires 18+ years of relevant industry and/or academic experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include multi-generation memory architecture strategy, performance/power analysis, and cross-functional co-architecture.

  • Set multi-generation, cross-portfolio memory interface strategy (DRAM interfaces, SRAM requirements).
  • Drive performance-versus-power analysis to influence silicon trade-offs and product roadmaps.
  • Lead silicon and vendor/IP co-architecture and coordinate cross-functional engineering execution.
  • Define hardware/software interface and micro-architectural solutions that deliver application-level benefits.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to develop the next generation of memory architects.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience; followed by notable differentiators.

  • Must-have: 18+ years of relevant industry and/or academic experience with demonstrated impact on memory architecture across multiple silicon generations.
  • Must-have: Strong expertise in performance vs power trade-offs, workload- and ML-aware modeling, and post-silicon optimization.
  • Must-have: Proven ability to influence technical decisions across product teams and with external industry partners and vendors.
  • Must-have: Track record of generating sustained IP and technical contributions that shape product direction.
  • Must-have: Experience leading cross-functional co-design with silicon, IP vendors, and software teams.
  • Nice-to-have: Deep RTL, microarchitecture, or backend implementation experience enabling end-to-end execution from architectural intent to build realization.
  • Nice-to-have: History of mentoring engineers into principal/distinguished roles and building durable technical communities in memory architecture.

Education Requirements

MSEE, MSCE, PhD, or equivalent experience demonstrating significant impact in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field; equivalent practical experience will be considered.
