Job Title

Display Module Engineer

Role Summary

Engineer responsible for end-to-end development of display modules for Mac products, from definition and validation through production ramp. Works cross-functionally with system, electrical, optical, mechanical, and process teams and serves as the primary technical contact with external display suppliers.

Experience Level

Mid-level β€” requires a minimum of 3 years of relevant hands-on experience; this role is appropriate for candidates with roughly 3–7 years of experience.

Responsibilities

Deliver technical ownership of display module architecture, validation, and integration to meet product performance and production targets.

  • Define and review display module specifications, architecture, and performance requirements, with emphasis on OLED and advanced panel technologies.
  • Develop and execute validation plans; perform hands-on optical and electrical performance characterization and data analysis.
  • Validate display modules at the system level and collaborate with system engineering to resolve display-related issues from engineering builds through mass production.
  • Drive failure analysis and corrective actions across internal teams and external suppliers.
  • Contribute design and process improvements to elevate front-of-screen visual performance and user experience.
  • Support international supplier development and production ramp; international travel is required.

Requirements

Must-have technical experience and skills; preferred items listed separately.

  • Minimum of 3 years hands-on experience in display technology development, optical system design, semiconductor optoelectronics, or optical sensor technologies.
  • Experience performing data analysis and using scripting or measurement tools such as Python, MATLAB, JMP, or LabVIEW.
  • Hands-on experience with display performance characterization and validation workflows, and familiarity with bench-top optical measurement systems.
  • Experience working with external suppliers and cross-functional teams to drive development and production readiness; able to lead failure analysis efforts.
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally to supplier sites.
  • Strong communication and project collaboration skills.

Education Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Optics, Physics, Materials Science, or a related technical field is required. Master's or PhD in EE, Optics, Physics, Materials Science, or a related field is preferred.
