Job Title

Discrete Graphics Validation Engineer

Role Summary

Join Intel's Discrete Graphics Platform System Engineering team to define, develop, and execute functional validation for discrete GPUs. Focus areas include system-level testing, feature interaction, performance, power efficiency, and reliability across media, display, and platform interfaces.

The role delivers validation methodologies, performs silicon debug and failure analysis, and collaborates with architecture, design, verification, board, platform, and manufacturing teams.

Experience Level

Entry-level / Early-career β€” requires 2+ years of relevant work experience in computer architecture, hardware validation, or related engineering roles.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include planning and executing GPU validation and debugging:

  • Define, develop, and execute validation plans for GPU features and feature interactions at the system level.
  • Use hardware and software tools to maximize validation coverage and meet performance, power, and area targets.
  • Develop and run post-silicon validation tools such as performance monitors and state-space coverage models.
  • Perform silicon debug and failure analysis to identify root causes and support troubleshooting and triage.
  • Review design changes to assess impacts on validation plans, tasks, and schedules.
  • Publish validation reports summarizing activities, results, and recommended actions.
  • Collaborate with architecture, design, verification, board, platform, and manufacturing teams to improve validation strategies and processes.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience:

  • 2+ years of relevant work experience in computer architecture, hardware validation, or a related area.
  • Hands-on experience with lab equipment such as power supplies, oscilloscopes, and multimeters.
  • Familiarity with operating systems and drivers: Windows drivers and error logs, or Linux operating systems and Windows command-line tools.
  • Ability to perform silicon debug and triage of functional failures.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with discrete graphics add-in cards or mobile discrete graphics systems.
  • Knowledge of PC x86 architecture, multimedia, memory, PCIe, display technologies, power management, and 3D graphics.
  • Comfort building and troubleshooting PC hardware.
  • Programming or scripting skills (Python or similar).

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related STEM field (as stated in the posting).
