Job Title

Director - Yield Architecture and Engineering

Role Summary

Lead and scale a Bangalore-based Yield Architecture and Engineering (YAE) organization focused on Design for Yield, DFT partnership, silicon diagnostics, automation, and corrective/preventive actions. The role combines technical credibility, cross-functional partnership, and people leadership to build site capability and deliver production-quality diagnostics and yield improvement.

Experience Level

Senior — experience leading engineering organizations. Typical experience expectations are degree-adjusted: Bachelor's ~8+ years, Master's ~7+ years, PhD ~6+ years in relevant hardware/semiconductor engineering roles.

Responsibilities

Accountable for organizing, growing, and operating a local YAE capability that partners across design, DFT, test, failure analysis, manufacturing, and global stakeholders.

  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing, people-first engineering organization with clear expectations and career development.
  • Own talent, retention, onboarding, succession planning, and leadership development for the Bangalore site.
  • Define and operate a Bangalore charter across Design for Yield, DFT collaboration, silicon diagnostics, automation, and CAPA.
  • Deliver production-quality diagnostics capability for scan and memory across product portfolios.
  • Establish cross-lifecycle feedback loops that convert diagnostic findings into improved design and manufacturability.
  • Champion automation, analytics, and AI to improve productivity, analysis, and knowledge retention.
  • Implement operational governance: roadmaps, project planning, metrics, reviews, decision rights, and escalation paths.
  • Drive cross-functional and global partnerships to resolve barriers and align on diagnostic and yield objectives.
  • Own site capability, team health, and representation of Bangalore priorities in global planning.
  • Translate strategy into staffing plans, capability roadmaps, and resource allocation decisions.

Requirements

Core technical, leadership, and operational qualifications required to deliver the role.

  • Must-have: Extensive semiconductor engineering experience in areas such as Design for Yield, DFT/ATPG, silicon diagnostics, memory diagnostics, product/test engineering, failure analysis, or post-silicon engineering.
  • Must-have: Proven experience building or transforming engineering teams and site capability; hiring, developing, and retaining technical talent.
  • Must-have: Demonstrated operational leadership: roadmaps, project plans, metrics, workforce reviews, and governance.
  • Must-have: Ability to partner across design, test, product engineering, failure analysis, manufacturing, and global stakeholders; strong cross-functional influence.
  • Must-have: Experience applying automation, analytics, or AI to engineering workflows or sponsoring such initiatives.
  • Nice-to-have: Deep hands-on credibility in diagnostics methodology, production diagnostic execution, or memory diagnostics.
  • Nice-to-have: Prior experience leading distributed or multi-site engineering organizations and establishing local operating models.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, Science, or a related technical field. The posting allows equivalent practical experience in lieu of a degree and specifies degree-adjusted experience thresholds (Bachelor's ≈ 8+ years, Master's ≈ 7+ years, PhD ≈ 6+ years).
