Job Title

Director, Systems Engineering

Role Summary

Lead and scale a customer-facing Systems & Solutions Engineering function for the Custom Digital MCU/MPU business. Translate customer product architectures into processor, IP, software, and product-roadmap requirements and drive those inputs into product management, silicon, software, and engineering teams.

The role interfaces directly with customer engineering organizations, internal technical teams, and commercial leaders to win strategic designs and prioritize roadmap investments.

Experience Level

Senior — typically requires 15+ years of relevant semiconductor, embedded processor, systems, or customer solutions experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities focus on building the team, engaging customers at system level, and converting field requirements into product and roadmap actions.

  • Build and lead the Systems & Solutions Engineering team for 32-bit MCU and 64-bit MPU product portfolios.
  • Serve as the first-line technical interface to strategic customer engineering teams; capture product architectures, pain points, competitive alternatives, and roadmap timing.
  • Translate customer system requirements into processor, mixed-signal IP, safety/security, connectivity, software, package, toolchain, and product roadmap requirements.
  • Develop market-specific solution narratives and reusable collateral for SDV/zonal, chassis/body control, robotics, motor drive, industrial automation, networking/infrastructure, e-mobility, and Edge AI.
  • Support major design-win pursuits with technical differentiation, architecture positioning, competitive analysis, NRE/derivative framing, and executive customer engagement.
  • Partner with product management, silicon and software engineering to prioritize roadmap investments and derivative platform opportunities.
  • Establish operating rhythms between sales, product, architecture, design, software, and customer teams to ensure field learnings become roadmap action.
  • Perform work in a safe and compliant manner and support Environmental, Health, Safety & Security programs.

Requirements

Must-have technical and leadership qualifications for immediate effectiveness in the role.

  • 15+ years of semiconductor, embedded processor, systems, applications engineering, product architecture, or customer solutions experience.
  • Deep experience with MCU/MPU products, embedded software, system architecture, and hardware/software partitioning.
  • Proven track record working directly with customer engineering organizations and influencing design decisions.
  • Demonstrated history of supporting or closing design wins, platform wins, or strategic customer engagements.
  • Ability to lead through influence across product management, sales, silicon architecture, software, and design engineering; experience hiring and scaling technical teams.
  • Excellent executive communication skills; able to simplify complex technical tradeoffs for business and customer audiences.
  • Preferred: experience in automotive Tier‑1/OEM, industrial automation, robotics, networking/infrastructure, and knowledge of functional safety, cybersecurity, secure boot/HSM, AUTOSAR, or embedded Linux/RTOS ecosystems.

Education Requirements

Not specified.
