Director, System & Application Engineering - Power & Analog
Role Summary
Technical leadership role to define next-generation power products and lead system & application engineering for Renesas India. The role combines product definition, customer engagement, and cross-functional coordination with sales, marketing, and global engineering teams.
Primary focus is on power-management products, system-level validation, product requirements, and customer support for India business.
Experience Level
Senior β requires significant experience (15+ years) in the power management / semiconductor domain; director-level leadership and team-building experience expected.
Responsibilities
Accountable for product definition, customer support, and building a high-performing applications team. Key responsibilities include:
- Identify market opportunities and collaborate with Marketing, Sales, and Business Division management.
- Support Sales/FAEs and customers with design-in, circuit review, debugging, troubleshooting, and field-return analysis.
- Define product-family roadmaps and produce detailed product requirements and design specification documents.
- Translate device-level system use cases into product specifications and align requirements with customers and internal teams.
- Compare design trade-offs and IP choices to meet competitive product targets.
- Participate in FPGA-based prototyping and board-level silicon evaluation according to validation plans.
- Drive system modeling requirements and ensure corner cases are covered in validation plans.
- Provide technical training and collateral to advance commercial adoption.
- Hire, grow, and manage the applications/system engineering team to meet business needs.

Must-have technical and leadership qualifications; travel required.

Must-have: 15+ years of experience in the power management space with semiconductor product definition and customer-facing roles.

Must-have: Product ownership mentality, strong interpersonal and presentation skills, and ability to work across functions and with global teams.

Must-have technical skills: hands-on lab debugging and silicon characterization; board-level analog and digital circuit design; PCB schematic/layout experience; proficiency in C and Python.
- Experience with circuit simulators (SIMPLIS or similar) and control-loop theory for power converters.
- Experience with lab automation, test equipment (oscilloscopes, waveform generators, network analyzers), and data analysis (Excel, JMP).
- Familiarity with FEA tools for thermal/electrical/magnetic analysis.
- Ability to produce technical documentation (product requirements, design specs) and translate technical concepts for varied audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to recruit, build, and motivate engineering teams.

Nice-to-have: Familiarity with AEC-Q, IATF, ISO 26262 (FuSa) standards at a basic level.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics Engineering or a related discipline is specified.
