Job Title

Director, Product Line Management (Co-Packaging Optical Solutions)

Role Summary

Lead the technical vision and product line execution for co-packaged optical hardware targeting high-speed optical networks. The role partners with engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and cross-functional teams to take products from development through qualification and transfer to volume production.

Experience Level

Senior β€” Director-level. Years-of-experience guidance not specified.

Responsibilities

Drive product development and manufacturing readiness for co-packaged optical solutions. Key responsibilities include:

  • Own and drive execution of product development programs for optical hardware used in high-speed optical networks.
  • Identify technical gaps and define solutions for the development team to meet production launch commitments.
  • Manage manufacturing partners and suppliers to complete design activities required for launch, including reliability, design verification, and compliance testing.
  • Coordinate across Photonics Design, Hardware, Packaging, Manufacturing, Quality, Product Marketing, and Supply Chain to ensure robust development and transfer to production.
  • Prepare and present technical reviews, reliability reports, and risk assessments for internal and customer engagements.
  • Support supplier technical discussions and incoming component validation to ensure production readiness.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; education items are listed separately below.

  • Deep knowledge of photonics device physics, photonics packaging, and failure mechanisms.
  • Proven track record supporting NPI programs and product qualification from concept through volume production.
  • Practical experience with relevant standards and qualification processes (examples include GR-468, Telcordia, JEDEC, MIL-STD).
  • Experience managing manufacturing partners and coordinating cross-functional teams to meet technical milestones.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills with internal teams and external suppliers.
  • Experience in fast-paced, high-tech environments serving telecom/datacom markets.

Nice-to-have:

  • Project management experience in integrated photonics packaging and co-design (optical + electrical) from design to production release.
  • Hands-on design-for-manufacturability and cost optimization experience.
  • Willingness to travel to supplier and manufacturing partner sites during design and transfer phases.

Education Requirements

M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Photonics, Physics, Materials Science, or a related field is cited; equivalent practical experience in photonics reliability engineering is acceptable. The posting references direct exposure to optical systems, silicon photonics, laser technologies, and optical transceivers.
