Director, Operations Engineering
Role Summary
Lead the Operations Engineering organization for Advanced Assembly and SMT manufacturing at the Guadalajara North campus. Define and execute the long-term roadmap for manufacturing process development, industrialization, and new product introductions to deliver scalable, high-quality production.
Experience Level
Senior β requires extensive manufacturing leadership experience (see Requirements).
Responsibilities
Accountable for strategic direction, technical leadership, and delivery of manufacturing process development and industrialization across business units.
- Deploy manufacturing and technology processes across business units and value-add services.
- Participate as a member of the site management team setting strategic direction.
- Develop strategic plans for manufacturing process development and control activities.
- Set long-term objectives and performance standards for the department.
- Ensure projects meet objectives, schedule, and budget.
- Monitor industry trends and maintain manufacturing technology leadership.
- Provide technical direction, mentoring, and hands-on project management to staff.
- Design manufacturing processes with broad applicability and robust tolerances.
- Recruit and direct senior staff to acquire resources and meet commitments.
- Implement and refine formal processes to support product development and NPI.
Requirements
Must-have technical and leadership qualifications.
- 10+ years in manufacturing, including at least 7 years in management roles.
- Hands-on technical experience leading advanced manufacturing labs, including product launches, SMT operations, process characterization, and industrialization in high-complexity environments.
- Proven New Product Introduction (NPI) experience from concept and validation through production ramp-up.
- Expertise with large, high-density components (including BGAs up to 100 Γ 100) ensuring robust process development, assembly reliability, and product quality.
- Advanced English communication skills (verbal and written).
- Experience managing large teams and directing senior technical staff.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with data center/hyperscale components (ASICs, CPUs, GPUs), complex BGAs, and optical packages such as co-packaged optics (CPOs) or pluggable optics.
- Deeper knowledge of PCB fabrication impacts (VIPPO, lamination) and final assembly including thermal management (heatsinks, TIM, liquid/cryogenic cooling, cold plates).
Education Requirements
BA/BS/MBA or equivalent work experience. Equivalent practical experience in manufacturing leadership will be accepted.
