Director of Verification
Role Summary
Lead strategic development and delivery of CPU verification methodologies, tools, infrastructure, AI-enabled verification, and engineering productivity across Arm's CPU development organization. The role reports into the CPU Verification leadership and partners with project and unit verification leads, Physical Engineering (PE), and EDA vendors.
Primary mission: define and scale next-generation verification flows and infrastructure to improve verification quality, predictability, and developer throughput across large, distributed CPU programs.
Experience Level
Senior β requires extensive leadership and technical experience in CPU verification. Posting specifies 15+ years of semiconductor industry experience focused on CPU verification.
Responsibilities
Accountable for verification strategy, tooling, infrastructure, vendor relationships, and organizational adoption.
- Define and drive CPU verification methodologies across simulation, emulation, formal, coverage, debug, and regression environments.
- Lead methodology, tooling, and flow transformations to improve productivity and verification quality.
- Manage strategic relationships with EDA vendors and influence product roadmaps and feature delivery.
- Own front-end verification flows, CI/CD, regression systems, DevOps strategy, and scalable automation.
- Identify and operationalize high-value AI/ML use cases for debug, regression analysis, coverage closure, and triage.
- Establish and improve maintenance, delivery, and release processes for sustained engineering and customer-specific versions.
- Influence cross-functional stakeholders, present technical strategy to executives, and drive alignment across verification, PE, and program leadership.
- Foster a culture of accountability, urgency, and continuous improvement in verification practices.
Requirements
Must-have technical and leadership qualifications.
- 15+ years semiconductor industry experience with significant focus on CPU verification.
- Deep technical expertise in CPU verification methodologies and environments.
- Proven experience leading verification teams and large-scale engineering initiatives.
- Track record driving tooling, methodology, and flow adoption across organizations on aggressive schedules.
- Experience with verification infrastructure, automation, regression systems, and front-end flows.
- Prior experience managing strategic technical engagements with EDA vendors.
- Experience leading and operating within global/distributed engineering teams.
- Strong communication, presentation, stakeholder management, and influencing skills.
- Execution-oriented mindset with a focus on improving engineering efficiency and deliverable quality.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience applying AI/ML in semiconductor verification.
- Expertise in modern DevOps methodologies and scalable engineering infrastructure.
- Experience driving enterprise-scale process standardization and influencing verification technology roadmaps.
Education Requirements
BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field (as stated in the posting).
