Director of Software Technology and Products
Role Summary
Lead strategy and productization of Arm’s platform firmware and system software used on Arm-based SoCs and devices. The role sits in the Software Technology Management Group and works across hardware, architecture, product, and customer teams to convert advanced research into stable, supported software products.
Hybrid role based in Bristol, working with internal teams and external OEMs, developers, and partners to align product roadmaps and delivery with customer needs.

Responsibilities
Accountabilities for strategy, product lifecycle, and stakeholder alignment:
- Define and lead the strategy for platform firmware and system software stacks for Arm-based devices.
- Gather and manage requirements from internal and external stakeholders; maintain end-to-end requirement traceability to guide engineering execution.
- Shape product roadmaps to transition research and prototypes into customer-ready solutions.
- Own product lifecycle from concept through delivery and long-term support.
- Collaborate with architecture, silicon, and product teams to align software capabilities with technology roadmaps.
- Partner with customers, OEMs, and developers to inform product decisions and improve developer experience.
- Represent the organization in external forums and technical partnerships.
Requirements
Must-have technical and leadership skills; concise list of required capabilities.
- Proven background in system software or firmware development for embedded or low-level systems.
- Technical expertise across platform disciplines: platform library optimization, real-time software/operating systems, C/C++ development, device drivers, and hardware–software integration.
- Experience in requirements management and stakeholder engagement, and leading teams to deliver software products from a strategic roadmap.
- Track record of working directly with customers or ecosystem partners on embedded or low-level software.
- Strong collaboration, communication, and people-first leadership skills.
