The Director of Silicon Performance and Design Execution at AMD is tasked with overseeing end-to-end silicon performance and design execution throughout the post-silicon phases. This position necessitates both technical and organizational leadership to ensure the successful attainment of system-level performance and the optimization of hardware/software interactions across a wide range of complex SoCs and accelerators.
The individual will manage a global team of around 30 engineers with an expansion potential to 50. This role is integral to product competitiveness and achieving customer performance outcomes, contributing to the long-term success of silicon roadmaps.
This position requires extensive experience in silicon design engineering, performance architecture, or related fields, alongside proven leadership in managing large global engineering teams.
- Own system-level performance and work toward hardware/software optimizations to enhance overall product performance.
- Lead post-silicon debugging, regression testing, performance analysis, and optimizations to meet product targets.
- Generate methodologies for power and performance modeling and facilitate silicon bring-up.
- Oversee execution across multiple silicon programs, ensuring that performance and power objectives meet deadlines.
- Collaborate with architecture, RTL design, verification, firmware, system software, and product management to mitigate any risks during the silicon lifecycle.
- Enhance tools, processes, and best practices for silicon design and performance engineering.
- Deep knowledge of SoC architecture, performance modeling, power analysis, and debugging requirements.
- Experience leading large, cross-functional teams with strong communication skills.
- Ability to navigate complex technical challenges from conceptualization through to post-silicon execution.
- Familiarity with high-performance computing, AI accelerators, GPUs, or large-scale SoCs.
- Background in both hardware and system/software performance optimization with experience interfacing with external customers.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering is required.
