Job Title
Director of Product and Test Engineering
Role Summary
Lead sustaining/product/test engineering for high-volume semiconductor products to ensure stable manufacturing, continuous yield improvement, and cost optimization. Manage global sustaining teams and act as the primary interface between Product Engineering, Test, Quality, Reliability, Operations, and OSAT partners.
Drive resolution of production issues, readiness for capacity expansion, test strategy execution, and lifecycle change management to maintain supply and product reliability at scale.
Experience Level
Senior level. Expect approximately 12β15+ years of semiconductor experience in Product Engineering, Test Engineering, or Manufacturing with proven leadership in high-volume production environments.
Responsibilities
Accountable for sustaining engineering, production stability, and cross-functional coordination. Key responsibilities include:
- Own end-to-end resolution of production issues across fab, assembly, and test; lead root-cause analysis and corrective actions for yield excursions, test escapes, and reliability issues.
- Drive structured problem-solving (8D, 5-Why) and enforce closed-loop corrective actions with Quality and Operations for customer returns and field reliability.
- Lead continuous yield improvement through data analytics, parametric monitoring, defect reduction, and monitoring product KPIs (yield, DPPM, test cost, cycle time).
- Implement cost-reduction initiatives including test time reduction, multisite optimization, and scrap reduction.
- Provide engineering support for factory and OSAT capacity expansion; qualify and release additional manufacturing capacity and ensure readiness for high-volume production.
- Execute production test optimization, support test conversions across ATE platforms, and ensure correlation, stability, and scalability of test solutions.
- Own execution of PCNs/ECOs and manufacturing transfers; maintain robust change control with minimal production disruption and support EOL/last-time-buy activities.
- Lead and develop a high-performing global sustaining engineering organization; manage roadmap, metrics, headcount, budget, and capital planning.
Requirements
Must-have technical and leadership qualifications and experience:
- 12β15+ years of semiconductor experience in sustaining/product/test/manufacturing engineering (experience requirement; degree detailed under Education Requirements).
- Proven experience managing teams in high-volume production environments and driving operational performance improvements.
- Strong expertise in yield analysis and improvement, failure analysis, and root-cause methodologies.
- Deep knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing flows (fab, assembly, test) and production test methodologies.
- Experience with ATE systems and production test strategy, including test conversions and test cost optimization.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate across Product Engineering, Test, Quality, Reliability, Operations, and external OSAT partners.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with power semiconductors (modules, controllers, PMICs, Si/SiC/GaN).
- Experience working with OSATs and global supply-chain manufacturing.
- Familiarity with data center power applications and high-reliability requirements.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is required; advanced degree (MS/PhD) preferred. The posting does not state explicit substitute-by-experience language.
