Director - IP Engineering (Technical Program Management)
Role Summary
Engineering director with a dual leadership role (management + technical) for GlobalFoundries' IP Engineering team in Hsinchu. Lead development of high-performance compute processor IP products and establish operating models for multi-site R&D teams to align product delivery with business objectives.
Accountable for planning, execution, delivery quality, cross-site collaboration, and building a high-performing engineering organization.
Experience Level
Senior β requires 20+ years of relevant experience in digital front-end design, verification, implementation, validation, or program/project management for computational IP development.
Responsibilities
Provide technical and program leadership across IP product development, ensure predictable execution, and develop team capabilities.
- Define and drive execution strategy aligned with product and business goals.
- Oversee program planning, execution, milestones, and delivery across multiple teams and sites.
- Review and govern technical plans, specifications, and execution progress for owned functions.
- Provide technical authority in design, micro-architecture, verification, and engineering methodology; engage hands-on as needed.
- Coach and mentor teams to improve technical depth, process, and methodologies.
- Partner with product, program, and customer stakeholders to align requirements and delivery.
- Drive engineering efficiency, tooling and automation improvements, and end-to-end delivery quality.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills, experience, and leadership capabilities.
- 20+ years of experience in digital front-end design, implementation, verification, validation, or program/project management for computational IP development.
- Proven senior technical leadership or engineering management with ownership of signoff accountability and delivery quality.
- Deep expertise in microprocessor, memory, and system architecture; digital design and verification across the full product lifecycle.
- Proficiency with HDL and verification languages and methodologies: SystemVerilog, Verilog, UVM, formal verification, and functional coverage.
- Experience with RTL design, verification flows, linters, simulators, synthesis tools, and formal tools.
- Programming and scripting: SystemVerilog, C/C++, Assembly, Python, Perl, or similar for automation.
- Strong program management skills: requirements analysis, risk management, resource planning, prioritization, and execution tracking.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder influence across engineering, product, and business teams.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience leading multi-site and multi-tier teams and driving alignment across geographically distributed organizations.
- Prior experience with CI/CD pipelines, flow automation, and engineering productivity toolchains.
Education Requirements
Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related engineering discipline from a reputable institution is required.
