Job Title

Director - IOT Chipset

Role Summary

Lead hardware engineering for IoT chipset development, including planning, design, optimization, verification, testing and bring-up of electronic systems (digital, analog, RF, optical), packaging, test systems, FPGA and DSP subsystems. Work with cross-functional teams to meet performance, yield and schedule targets for advanced semiconductor products.

Experience Level

Senior — typically 10+ years in hardware or semiconductor product development with 5+ years in a technical leadership role. Minimum years-of-experience requirements vary by degree (see Education Requirements).

Responsibilities

Principal responsibilities include technical leadership, product bring-up, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver manufacturable, reliable hardware.

  • Plan, design, verify and test complex electronic systems and subsystems (digital/analog/RF/optical, FPGA, DSP).
  • Lead bring-up and yield optimization activities for new products and advanced process nodes.
  • Collaborate with design, verification, validation, software and architecture teams to implement new requirements and test solutions.
  • Evaluate and develop manufacturing and test solutions to meet customer expectations and schedules.
  • Serve as an expert resource for reliability evaluation, materials and processes, and drive automation and productivity improvements.
  • Advise and influence multiple engineering teams; provide supervision to direct reports.
  • Make high-impact technical and program decisions within budgetary objectives.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills, experience and leadership attributes for successful candidates.

  • Extensive semiconductor product development experience (typically 8–15+ years) including hardware design and validation.
  • Proven technical leadership with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Hands-on experience with circuit/logic design and validation (digital, analog, RF).
  • Experience with schematic capture and circuit simulation tools.
  • Proficiency with hardware design and measurement instruments (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, RF tools, etc.).
  • Experience in yield bring-up, test development, and manufacturing/test automation.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, negotiation and cross-functional influence skills.
  • Familiarity with reliability evaluation, materials and packaging considerations for advanced nodes.

Education Requirements

Degrees expected: Bachelor's, Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related engineering/technical field. The posting specifies multiple minimums by degree: e.g. Bachelor's typically paired with ~8–10+ years' relevant experience; Master's with ~7–9+ years; PhD with ~6–8+ years. Preferred: Master’s degree is noted; equivalent practical experience may be considered.
