Director FPGA Silicon Design Engineering

Role Summary

Lead architecture for FPGA configuration, readback, and Partial Reconfiguration (PR) across heterogeneous SoC and chiplet environments. Build and manage a small team of architects and engineers and drive cross‑functional execution across silicon, RTL, software, tools, validation, and product management.

Translate customer and product requirements into architecture roadmaps and commercially deployable features for Emulation & Prototyping, AI, Data Center, Embedded, and Automotive markets.

Experience Level

Senior (Director-level). Requires established technical leadership in FPGA or SoC architecture and experience leading architecture teams and cross-functional product initiatives.

Responsibilities

The role combines technical leadership, architecture definition, team leadership, and cross‑functional coordination.

• Define and lead FPGA configuration architecture: bitstream formats, boot flows, interfaces, reliability, scalability, and security.
• Architect and drive Partial Reconfiguration (PR) solutions focused on low latency, security, and dynamic deployment.
• Establish long‑term roadmaps for configuration, PR, readback, debug, and observability.
• Drive runtime reconfiguration innovations for adaptive, high‑availability systems.
• Make system‑level trade‑offs across configuration bandwidth, latency, power, memory hierarchy, and interconnects.
• Produce architecture specifications and guide implementation through productization.
• Partner with software, tools, validation, and product teams to deliver end‑to‑end solutions.
• Engage customers and partners to capture requirements and influence product strategy and investments.

Requirements

Must-have technical leadership, FPGA architecture expertise, and experience delivering complex silicon features.

• Proven technical leadership delivering architecture from concept to product release.
• Deep expertise in FPGA configuration, bitstreams, protocols, boot flows, security, readback, and debug infrastructure.
• Experience driving system‑level trade‑offs across performance, power, reliability, and programmability.
• Track record leading cross‑functional teams and aligning stakeholders across silicon, RTL, software, tools, validation, and product management.
• Customer-facing experience and strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.
• Ability to mentor architects and elevate architectural capabilities across the organization.

Preferred:

• Experience with FPGA toolchains (synthesis, place‑and‑route, implementation) and PR flows.
• Knowledge of chiplet systems, memory hierarchies, and high‑speed interconnects.
• History of influencing product roadmaps and executive decision‑making.

Education Requirements

BS, MS, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
