Job Title

Director, Design Verification

Role Summary

Lead design verification (DV), emulation and post-silicon validation for complex multi-chiplet SoCs in the Custom Compute and Storage (CCS) business unit. The role is responsible for verification strategy, testbench architectures, cross-functional coordination, and delivering high-quality tape-outs.

Experience Level

Senior level. Position expects extensive experience (typically 10+ years in design verification; posting indicates 10–15 years with a Bachelor's or 5–10 years with an advanced degree, or equivalent experience).

Responsibilities

Drive and manage the full verification lifecycle and build a high-performing verification organization.

  • Lead DV, emulation and post-silicon validation execution with a zero-defect mindset.
  • Define DV, emulation and post-silicon validation scope, methodology and verification strategies.
  • Specify and drive verification testbench (TB) architectures and tool selection.
  • Set execution timelines, goals, monitor progress and mitigate schedule or quality risks.
  • Collaborate with architecture, design, DFT, PD, firmware and system teams to ensure successful product execution.
  • Drive continuous productivity improvements through incremental and larger changes.
  • Monitor industry DV trends and adapt processes and tools accordingly.
  • Hire, develop and retain a high-performance engineering team; address training and career development needs.

Requirements

Key technical and leadership qualifications required for successful execution of the role.

  • 10+ years of experience in design engineering with focus on block, subsystem and SoC verification.
  • Hands-on experience with verification methodologies and testbench development.
  • Strong coding/scripting skills (Perl, Python, Tcl, UNIX shell).
  • Deep understanding of the ASIC development process and proven ability to lead ASIC development teams.
  • Track record of shipping large SoCs through multiple successful tape-outs.
  • Good understanding of SoC architecture including processor cores, memory and peripheral interfaces.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, presentation and cross-functional leadership skills.
  • Highly motivated, self-driven, and curious to learn new technologies.
  • Nice-to-have: hands-on experience with emulation and post-silicon bring-up; familiarity with DFT, PD and firmware interactions.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a related field is stated; Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related fields is listed as an option. The posting also accepts equivalent professional experience in lieu of a formal degree.
