Director, Design Management

Role Summary

Lead end-to-end SoC program delivery from feasibility through silicon bring-up, combining technical leadership with program, cost, and execution ownership. This role manages cross-functional teams, contractors, and external partners to meet schedule, quality, and cost targets.

Based in the Richardson engineering site and customer-facing; responsible for planning, vendor/IP decisions, and execution metrics for silicon readiness.

Responsibilities

Primary execution and management responsibilities include:

  • Own end-to-end SoC execution from concept through silicon bring-up and validation.
  • Lead feasibility analysis and translate customer requirements (performance, power, cost, schedule) into execution strategies.
  • Define architecture alignment, IP selection, and IP integration readiness.
  • Drive program planning: milestones, dependencies, risk mitigation, and execution metrics.
  • Develop people and resource models across internal teams, contractors, and partners.
  • Build and manage detailed cost models (engineering, IP, EDA, silicon, packaging, test) and Statements of Work with change control.
  • Manage contractor onboarding, delivery tracking, quality management, and vendor selection.
  • Act as technical interface to customers and coordinate with EDA vendors and external partners.
  • Support Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements in all activities.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience:

  • Proven record delivering complex SoC programs from concept through silicon bring-up.
  • Strong technical experience across RTL, DV, DFT, and Physical Design.
  • Customer-facing experience including feasibility analysis and solution definition.
  • Experience in resource modeling, cost modeling, SOW definition, contractor management, and IP procurement.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with global teams.

Nice-to-have:

  • Deep domain expertise in one or more areas (RTL, DV, DFT, Physical Design).
  • Experience with advanced-node SoC development and proven first-pass silicon success.
  • Experience coordinating across global teams, including work with US and India teams.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or a related field (as stated in the posting).
