Director, Application Engineering
Role Summary
Lead the Field Application Engineering organization to drive technical engagement, customer success, and design-win strategy for strategic accounts across AI infrastructure, silicon photonics, advanced packaging, networking, mobile, and power technologies. Serve as the primary technical liaison between customers, engineering, and business teams to influence roadmaps and accelerate revenue.
Experience Level
Senior — typically requires 15+ years of semiconductor industry experience with leadership of customer-facing technical teams.
Responsibilities
Accountable for building and leading a high-performing FAE organization and delivering technical strategy and customer outcomes.
- Build, develop, and lead a team of Field Application Engineers supporting large strategic accounts.
- Create a culture of technical excellence, accountability, collaboration, and customer focus.
- Define and execute technical strategy for design wins and major customer engagements.
- Partner with account managers to identify, qualify, and advance business opportunities.
- Lead customer engagements from evaluation through tapeout, production ramp, and lifecycle support.
- Anticipate and remove technical barriers to customer success; drive disciplined opportunity management and forecasting.
- Influence customer roadmaps and align company solutions to future market opportunities.
- Represent the company in executive briefings, customer meetings, and industry events.
- Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support Environmental, Health, Safety & Security programs.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience; preferred items noted.
- 15+ years of semiconductor industry experience.
- Proven experience leading customer-facing technical organizations and managing technical teams.
- Deep understanding of semiconductor technologies, foundry ecosystems, design flows, and design-win processes.
- Proven success supporting strategic accounts and engaging with executive stakeholders.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and executive engagement skills.

Preferred: experience with silicon photonics, advanced packaging, AI infrastructure, RF/connectivity, power and mixed-signal technologies, or hyperscale/cloud customers.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline required. Advanced degree preferred.
