Digital Verification Engineer - MCU
Role Summary
Join the MCU development team in Catania to develop verification environments and validate digital designs for microcontrollers used in industrial and edge AI applications. The role focuses on ensuring functional correctness through verification planning, testbench development, simulation, and cross-team collaboration.
Experience Level
Entry-level (typically 2+ years of experience in digital IC verification).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include building verification environments, creating verification plans, executing tests, and collaborating with designers to close issues.
- Develop UVM/SystemVerilog-based verification environments and testbenches.
- Create verification plans from specifications, including corner cases.
- Develop, run, and debug test cases and regression suites.
- Analyze simulation results and coordinate fixes with design engineers.
- Implement assertions and functional coverage models; maintain verification collateral.
- Participate in verification reviews and improve methodologies and flows.
- Collaborate with architecture, design, DfT and software teams across the product lifecycle.
- Document verification strategies, test plans, and results.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- Proven experience (typically 2+ years) in digital IC design verification.
- Strong proficiency in SystemVerilog and UVM.
- Experience with simulators such as Questa, VCS, or Xcelium.
- Solid understanding of digital design principles and architectures.
- Experience with scripting (Python, Perl, or Tcl) for test automation and flows.
- Familiarity with functional coverage-driven verification and assertion-based verification.
- Excellent problem-solving, attention to detail, and teamwork skills.
- Fluency in English, written and spoken.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
Other Information
Estimated gross annual base salary range in Italy: 38,000 to 52,300 annually. Position is covered by the National Collective Labour Agreement (Metalmeccanica Industria). NXP applies equal pay and fair remuneration practices.
