Job Title

Digital Test Engineer - Senior

Role Summary

Design and implement digital test solutions to support New Product Introduction (silicon validation and characterization) and manufacturing enablement for Qualcomm SoC products. Work with cross-functional teams (design, DFT/DFM, packaging, manufacturing) to deliver test plans, ATE programs, and diagnostic flows that ensure product quality and yield.

Experience Level

Senior — typically 3+ years of hardware engineering or related experience (posting also describes degree-specific alternatives; see Education Requirements).

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include developing and validating digital test flows, supporting silicon bring-up, and enabling production test and diagnostics.

  • Create and execute test solutions for silicon validation, characterization, and manufacturing enablement.
  • Develop ATE programs and automation for production test (ATE platforms such as Advantest 93K or Teradyne UFlex/IFlex when applicable).
  • Use and validate common lab/test equipment (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, logic analyzers, network analyzers).
  • Work with design and DFT teams to debug failures, improve test coverage, and reduce test time and yield issues.
  • Analyze signal integrity and transmission line issues relevant to digital interfaces and high-speed IO.
  • Collaborate with packaging and optical teams on testing of 2.5D/3D, photonic integrated circuits, and optical subsystems.
  • Contribute to automation, data analysis, and algorithmic test improvements, including use of ML/AI methods where applicable.

Requirements

Key technical skills and experience required or strongly preferred. Degree requirements are summarized separately under Education Requirements.

  • Must-have: Proficiency with Python, Java, and Linux; hands-on experience with oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, logic analyzers, and network analyzers; knowledge of signal integrity and transmission line theory.
  • Must-have: Minimum practical experience in hardware engineering or a closely related role (see Experience Level).
  • Preferred: Experience developing tests on Advantest 93K or Teradyne UFlex/IFlex platforms.
  • Preferred: FPGA programming and embedded software experience for optical subsystem prototyping.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with active/passive photonic devices (lasers, modulators, photodiodes) and optical communication metrics (OSNR, receiver sensitivity, OMI, optical filtering).
  • Preferred: Industrial experience supporting high-volume semiconductor or EIC/PIC production and good organizational and analytical/problem-solving skills.

Education Requirements

Posting cites degree-based options and fields: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical & Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Optics/Photonics, Computer Engineering or a related field; Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering or Optics preferred. The posting also defines alternative qualification combinations: Bachelor's degree + 2+ years hardware engineering experience; OR Master’s degree + 1+ years experience; OR PhD (field as above). Equivalent practical experience is implied by the alternate degree+experience combinations.
