Job Title
Digital Test Engineer
Role Summary
Design and implement test solutions to validate and characterize Qualcomm SoC products during new product introduction and to enable high-volume manufacturing. Work within Product and Test Engineering (PTE) to deliver silicon validation, ATE development, and manufacturing support.
The role collaborates with design, DFT/DFM, packaging, and manufacturing teams and may involve ATE test development, bench validation, and analysis for digital, HSIO, memory, and photonic subsystems.
Experience Level
Mid-level. Typical background: 3+ years of hardware engineering or related industry experience.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop and maintain test plans, test programs, and bench procedures for silicon validation and characterization.
- Implement ATE test development and debug (Advantest 93K, Teradyne UFlex/IFlex experience preferred).
- Write and maintain test software and automation scripts (Python, Java, Linux environments).
- Operate and interpret results from lab and production test equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum/network analyzers).
- Analyze failures and work with design/DFT to root-cause, improve yield, and implement diagnostics.
- Support manufacturing enablement and high-volume production activities, including test flow optimization and yield analysis.
- Collaborate with packaging and optical teams for 2.5D/3D IC testing and photonic subsystem validation where applicable.
- Use signal-integrity knowledge and transmission-line theory to validate high-speed interfaces.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- 3+ years hardware engineering or related industry experience.
- Proficiency with Python, Java, and Linux for test development and automation.
- Hands-on experience with lab and test equipment: oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, logic analyzers, network analyzers.
- Knowledge of signal integrity and transmission-line theory.
- Experience with ATE platforms and test program development (preferred: Advantest 93K, Teradyne UFlex/IFlex).
Nice-to-have / preferred:
- Experience with FPGA programming and embedded software for optical or prototype subsystems.
- Familiarity with active/passive photonic devices and optical communication metrics (OSNR, receiver sensitivity, optical modulation index).
- Experience supporting high-volume semiconductor production and yield management.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills; experience applying ML/analytics to test development is a plus.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree required in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, Optics/Photonics, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or a related technical field. Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering or Optics is preferred. Equivalent practical experience may be considered.
