Job Title
Digital System Level Test (SLT) Engineer
Role Summary
Member of the System Level Test team responsible for characterizing system performance of Snapdragon and related products. Work spans early silicon bring-up through post-silicon validation, system-level test development, and collaboration with software and production test teams.
The role focuses on hardware testing, system integration validation, and developing effective production screens for system-level issues.
Experience Level
Mid-level. Candidates with approximately 2+ years of relevant hardware or test engineering experience are appropriate; the role supports growth to higher responsibility levels.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include hardware bring-up, system validation, and developing system-level tests and production screens.
- Perform IC/module/board bring-up and post-silicon validation; participate in IC design reviews.
- Develop, execute and automate system-level tests, benchmarks and stress tests.
- Characterize hardware/software interactions and device performance across voltage, process and thermal conditions.
- Use and maintain electrical and system-level measurement equipment (oscilloscopes, power supplies, wireless network simulators, etc.).
- Debug module- and PCB-level issues, including SMT-related problems and hardware schematics/layout interpretation.
- Collaborate with software, production test and cross-functional teams to define production screens and resolve system issues.
- Document results, track issues, and maintain test code and source control repositories.
Requirements
Expect a combination of hands-on hardware testing skills, debugging experience, and ability to work across engineering teams. Below are compact must-have and nice-to-have items.
Must-have:
- Hands-on experience in hardware testing, bring-up or system-level validation (module/board/SiP or IC level).
- Experience using measurement equipment such as oscilloscopes and power supplies; familiarity with system-level test equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret hardware schematics and PCB/layout files; practical PCB/module debug experience.
- Proven ability to work independently and collaborate across cross-functional teams; good problem-solving and documentation skills.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with NPI or HVM testing, server products, and production screening.
- Familiarity with characterizing high-speed interfaces (PCIe, HDMI, Wi‑Fi, SATA, USB) or mixed-signal blocks (ADC, DAC, PLL).
- Experience with programming or scripting for test automation (C#, C/C++, Python, Perl) and source control systems (Perforce, Git).
- Knowledge of system-level benchmarks and stress tests.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field. (Minimum qualification listed: Bachelor's degree in a related field.)
