Job Title

Digital Physical Design

Role Summary

Perform physical design and verification for SoC and semiconductor products, focusing on layout implementation, timing closure, and yield improvement. Work within product development teams to implement, test, and deliver chip designs to manufacturing.

Experience Level

Entry-level β€” requires approximately 1 year of relevant experience in physical design or a related engineering role.

Responsibilities

Primary duties include implementing and verifying chip physical designs, supporting production, and collaborating across engineering teams.

  • Perform physical design implementation (RTL-to-GDS) and place-and-route flows.
  • Run and interpret physical design verification checks (DRC) and static timing analysis (STA).
  • Optimize clocking and timing Quality of Results (QoR) for target performance.
  • Develop and maintain scripts and automation (Python, TCL, Perl) for design flows.
  • Configure and use EDA tools to implement design tasks and signoff procedures.
  • Review product requirements and logic diagrams; contribute to failure analysis and yield improvement.
  • Document design specifications and ensure compliance with design rules and codes.
  • Coordinate with internal teams on design status, testing, and production issues.

Requirements

Minimum technical skills and hands-on experience required.

  • About 1 year of relevant engineering experience in physical design or a related role.
  • Experience with RTL-to-GDS flow and SoC physical design methodology.
  • Proficiency with static timing analysis (STA) and timing closure techniques.
  • Experience with place-and-route (PnR) flows and physical design verification (DRC).
  • Experience optimizing clock architectures and QoR.
  • Scripting experience in Python, TCL, and/or Perl for automation.
  • Experience operating EDA tools for layout, verification, and testing.

Education Requirements

Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or Computer Engineering (including VLSI or Physics variants), foreign equivalent, or a related field.
