Job Title

Digital PDTE Lead for Mobile VT, AR, IoT and Wearable

Role Summary

Lead hardware engineering for product development, test and evaluation (PDTE) focused on mobile validation/test (VT), augmented reality, IoT and wearable platforms. Responsible for planning, designing, optimizing, verifying and testing complex electronic systems and bringing products to production.

Work closely with cross-functional teams (design, verification, validation, software, architecture and manufacturing) to meet performance, yield and schedule targets on advanced process nodes.

Experience Level

Senior level. Preferred 8+ years of hardware engineering experience. Minimum experience guidance: typically 4+ years (or equivalent experience) for candidates at baseline, with shorter required experience when paired with advanced degrees.

Responsibilities

Primary duties include technical leadership and hands-on hardware development across product bring-up, test and production.

  • Plan, optimize, verify and test electronic systems, circuits and bring-up for Digital/Analog/RF/optical subsystems, FPGA and DSP systems.
  • Integrate complex features into hardware designs to meet power, performance and area targets.
  • Perform simulations and analyses, and implement designs with optimal trade-offs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to incorporate requirements and test solutions into production programs.
  • Evaluate and develop manufacturing and bring-up solutions to improve yield, test time and quality.
  • Assess reliability of materials and techniques; introduce automation and optimization to increase productivity.
  • Identify potential design, compatibility and compliance issues and propose mitigations.
  • Produce detailed technical documentation for complex hardware projects.

Requirements

Core technical skills and experience required for successful performance in this role.

  • Several years of hardware engineering experience; senior candidates typically have 8+ years.
  • Hands-on experience with circuit design (digital, analog, RF) and schematic capture/circuit simulation tools.
  • Proficient with hardware design and measurement instruments (oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, RF test equipment).
  • Experience with bring-up, yield improvement, test systems and production qualification.
  • Experience with FPGA/DSP systems and related verification/validation activities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and provide technical guidance to team members; at least some technical leadership experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for conveying complex technical information.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's, Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or a related field. Qualcomm's minimum qualifications specify equivalency of degree and experience: Bachelor's + 4+ years of relevant experience, OR Master's + 3+ years, OR PhD + 2+ years. Master's degree is listed as preferred for senior roles. Equivalent practical experience is accepted per the stated combinations.
