Digital IC Design Engineering Intern

Role Summary

The intern will contribute to the design, modeling, implementation and documentation of digital integrated circuits as part of a product development team. Work includes architecture-level tradeoffs, participation in design reviews, collaboration with layout and test engineering, and characterization of prototypes.

Projects span applications such as audio, imaging, high-speed interfaces, clocking, medical, automotive, storage, power management and other mixed-signal systems.

Experience Level

Entry-level (Internship). No specific years of professional experience required; role is targeted at students currently enrolled in a relevant degree program.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include design, analysis, documentation, and collaboration to drive IC development and product release.

  • Partner with business teams and system engineering to develop and agree on design specifications.
  • Perform high-level analysis on chip-architecture trade-offs to meet specifications, performance, and cost targets.
  • Participate in design reviews and produce required design and product documentation.
  • Collaborate on IC layout to achieve performance objectives.
  • Characterize prototypes, develop test specifications, and coordinate with test/product engineering for product releases.
  • Develop and drive behavioral models for design verification.
