Digital IC Design Engineer | BGP
Texas InstrumentsJob Title
Digital IC Design Engineer | BGP
Role Summary
Design and deliver the digital portion of battery-gauge mixed-signal SoCs: translate system intent into micro-architecture and RTL, implement digital blocks, and drive designs through implementation and production release. Work closely with system, analog, verification, validation, product, and test teams to meet performance, quality, and reliability targets.
Join a focused engineering team delivering battery-gauge silicon; the role includes ownership of block-level specifications and continuous improvement of digital architectures and flows.
Experience Level
Mid-level - typically requires 5+ years of relevant digital IC design experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Define digital micro-architecture and implement RTL that meets system and analog requirements.
- Drive the full digital flow from RTL through synthesis, place-and-route, and GDSII (RTL-to-GDSII).
- Collaborate with Design Verification, Validation, Product Engineering, and Test Engineering to enable first-pass production transfer.
- Interface with internal and external stakeholders to gather requirements, resolve issues, and lead technical discussions.
- Analyze design data, optimize implementations, and evolve architectures over time for performance, area, and power.
- Mentor and guide team members on digital design flow and best practices.
Requirements
Key qualifications and skills.
Must-have:
- 5+ years of relevant digital design experience.
- Thorough understanding of digital logic design.
- Experience with the full digital flow (RTL-to-GDSII).
- Familiarity with Verilog and digital simulators.
Preferred / Nice-to-have:
- Experience developing digital for embedded controller products.
- Strong scripting skills and experience automating design tasks.
- Hands-on experience with digital interfaces such as I2C, SPI, SPMI.
- Experience with asynchronous digital circuits, state machines, and digital signal processing concepts.
- Experience with SystemVerilog and verification methodologies (UVM, testbench development, assertions, coverage).
- Strong communication, initiative, ownership, and cross-functional leadership skills.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree required (Degree Level: Bachelor's Degree). No specific field of study was listed in the posting.
