Job Title
Digital Hardware Engineering Lead
Role Summary
Lead an electrical engineering team responsible for FPGA/HDL-based digital hardware for vehicle management, DSP, and networking. Oversee architecture, HDL development, PCB host-board design, testing, and integration across product lines.
Collaborate with stakeholders to define hardware and IP strategy and ensure on-schedule delivery of hardware products.
Experience Level
Senior β typically requires 7+ years of relevant experience designing and delivering complex board-level digital hardware in military, automotive, or similar industries.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include technical leadership, design governance, and delivery management.
- Lead and mentor an electrical engineering team focused on digital design (FPGA/HDL).
- Define architecture, functional blocks, simulation, and system testing workflows for FPGA/HDL development.
- Independently review high-speed digital and compute-focused designs.
- Manage full PCB lifecycle for FPGA/SoC/SoM host boards: requirements, schematics, layout, bring-up, test, and integration.
- Standardize HDL libraries and FPGA design workflows.
- Coordinate with cross-functional stakeholders to align hardware and IP deliverables.
- Create and maintain development schedules, assign tasks, and track progress.
Requirements
Must-haves for the role.
- 7+ years designing, testing, and troubleshooting complex board designs in military, automotive, or similar hardware domains.
- Experience leading an electrical engineering team focused on digital design.
- Proficiency in HDL (VHDL or Verilog) and FPGA development workflows.
- Familiarity with FPGA, CPU, MCU, and GPU devices and standard interfaces: Ethernet, CAN, I2C, SPI, PCIe, USB.
- Experience with signal integrity and power integrity design considerations.
- Knowledge of analog and digital electronics and electronic circuits.
- Competence with lab test equipment: oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, thermal chambers, current probes, and test automation.
- Proficient with Altium Designer or equivalent EDA tools.
- Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Top Secret security clearance.
- Preferred: familiarity with DO-254, DO-178C, DO-160, DO-311A; MIL-STD-810/704/461; expertise in computer networking and implementing enhanced security measures.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience; other technical engineering degrees or equivalent experience may be acceptable.
