Job Title

Digital Failure Analysis Engineer (LFAB)

Role Summary

Work on digital failure analysis and silicon debug for analog/embedded wafer production at the Lehi (LFAB) manufacturing site. The role focuses on converting failing silicon into actionable root cause and enabling corrective actions across yield, quality, and product development.

The position partners with design, test, physical FA, and process teams to diagnose complex failures and support product releases; roughly 10–20% of the role involves product engineering and ownership for yield issues.

Experience Level

Mid-level β€” requires approximately 5 years of semiconductor industry experience (as stated in the posting).

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities involve digital FA, VLSI debug, cross-functional technical collaboration, and limited product engineering ownership.

  • Perform digital failure analysis and root-cause diagnosis using test/characterization data, DFT-enabled observability, scan diagnostics, and targeted physical analysis.
  • Use ATPG-generated test vectors and scan diagnostics to isolate failure mechanisms and correlate failures to design/netlist/layout.
  • Execute deep-dive VLSI and silicon debug to analyze digital circuitry behavior, timing interactions, and failure modes.
  • Collaborate with design, test, physical FA, EDA/tool teams, product engineers, and fab process engineers to drive corrective actions and yield improvements.
  • Own product engineering tasks (10–20% of role): analyze production yield issues, implement corrective actions, and support product qualification and release.

Requirements

Must-have experience and skills, followed by preferred (nice-to-have) skills.

  • Must-have: Minimum 5 years of experience in the semiconductor industry.
  • Must-have: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience in silicon debug or failure analysis workflows.
  • Must-have: Solid grasp of digital design fundamentals and familiarity with VLSI concepts.
  • Must-have: Effective written and verbal communication and ability to work cross-functionally to drive results.
  • Preferred: Experience with DFT and ATPG for SoC/ASIC designs and with industry-standard DFT/ATPG EDA tools.
  • Preferred: Proven ability to prioritize tasks, manage time, and deliver under project deadlines; self-motivated and proactive.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field (as stated under minimum requirements).
