Digital Design Verification Engineering Intern — 16-month Co-op

Role Summary

Internship on the Digital Design Verification team focused on verification of high-speed interfaces (Ethernet backplane, PCIe, SATA, USB, MIPI SERDES). Work with global design and verification teams to validate RTL and gate-level designs before silicon tape-out.

Program is full-time, 16 months, hybrid at the Mississauga office; start date May 2027.

Experience Level

Entry-level internship (co-op). Intended for students with prior co-op or internship experience; suitable for early-career engineers.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities during the internship:

  • Define and track verification testplans to ensure coverage of design functionality.
  • Design and write constrained-random SystemVerilog testbenches using UVM and directed testbenches for ATE/customer applications.
  • Create and analyze functional coverage and write SystemVerilog assertions.
  • Debug RTL and gate-level simulation failures, perform code coverage analysis and closure, and log/track bugs (e.g., Jira).
  • Collaborate with design and verification teams across time zones; leverage AI tools to improve verification workflows.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and attributes:

  • Previous co-op or internship experience in a relevant engineering role.
  • Strong interest in digital design and verification with relevant coursework or project experience.
  • Proficiency in scripting (Perl or Python).
  • Knowledge of Verilog and/or SystemVerilog.
  • Basic proficiency with Unix/Linux shell environments.
  • Good communication, initiative, independence, and ability to work across time zones.

Education Requirements

Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
