Job Title

Digital Design Engineer - MCU

Role Summary

Join a Catania-based digital design team building microcontrollers (MCUs) for edge AI and industrial applications. The role focuses on RTL design, verification, synthesis, timing and integration with analog, mixed-signal and software teams to deliver production silicon.

Experience Level

Mid-level. No explicit years-of-experience specified.

Responsibilities

Design, verify and validate digital IP and sub-circuits for SoC-class MCUs and support integration through to silicon.

  • Implement RTL (Verilog/SystemVerilog) for digital sub-circuits from specifications.
  • Perform synthesis, static timing analysis (STA), formal verification and power analysis.
  • Contribute to design for testability (DFT) implementation and verification; debug designs.
  • Collaborate with analog, mixed-signal and software teams to define interfaces and optimize system performance.
  • Run simulations, formal checks and hardware emulation for comprehensive verification.
  • Participate in post-silicon validation and debugging to resolve issues.
  • Produce design documentation: specifications, test plans and review materials.
  • Keep current with industry trends and digital IC design best practices.

Requirements

Key technical and interpersonal qualifications expected for the role.

  • Must-have: Strong RTL skills in Verilog/SystemVerilog for design and verification.
  • Must-have: Practical experience with industry EDA tools for RTL coding, synthesis, STA and formal verification.
  • Must-have: Solid understanding of digital design principles including clock-domain crossing, power integrity and low-power techniques.
  • Must-have: Experience scripting for automation (Python, Tcl, Perl or similar).
  • Experience with design debug, DFT concepts and post-silicon validation.
  • Strong problem-solving, attention to detail and ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
  • Good communication skills and ability to take initiative and lead technical discussions.

Education Requirements

Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering or a closely related technical field is required (specified by the employer).
