Digital Design Engineer, DFT
Analog DevicesJob Title
Digital Design Engineer, DFT
Role Summary
Design-for-test (DFT) engineer responsible for DFT specifications, architecture and implementation for ASIC/SoC products. Work with digital design, verification and test teams to enable high coverage, low power and low test-time test solutions.
Position focuses on scan insertion, ATPG and compression flows, pre/post-silicon verification and debug across multiple product lines.
Experience Level
Entry-level / Early career - approximately 2 years of directly related ASIC/SoC DFT experience expected.
Responsibilities
Core responsibilities include:
- Define and implement DFT specifications and architecture using modern DFT methodologies and tools.
- Perform scan insertion and ATPG flows; implement DFT compression and on-chip clock control insertion.
- Execute gate-level simulations (zero delay) and SDF-based flows; support pre- and post-silicon verification and debug.
- Support multiple product lines to meet test coverage, low-power, and low test-time targets.
- Collaborate with logic design, verification, and failure analysis teams; work independently when required.
- Travel as required (up to ~10%) and comply with export licensing review processes for certain applicants.
Requirements
Must-have and preferred skills:
Must-have:- About 2 years of ASIC/SoC DFT experience, including DFT architecture and planning.
- Hands-on experience with scan insertion and ATPG tools.
- Experience with DFT compression insertion and on-chip clock control insertion.
- Gate-level simulation experience (zero delay) and use of SDF timing data.
- Understanding of failure analysis practices.
- Scripting skills in Perl, Python or Tcl.
- Strong teamwork and written/verbal communication skills.
- Experience with Tessent DFT toolset.
- Knowledge of IEEE 1149 (JTAG), LBIST and MBIST.
- Experience with advanced DFT technologies (low-power DFT, SSN, fault grading).
Education Requirements
Master of Science (M.S.) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a similar technical field is required.
