Digital Design Engineer
Role Summary
Join AMD's digital design team to develop next-generation PCI Express (PCIe) IP used across server, client, GPU, and semi-custom products. The role covers end-to-end ASIC RTL design: architecture and microarchitecture definition, RTL implementation, verification support, and post-silicon bring-up.
This position works with cross-functional teams (architecture, verification, physical design, silicon validation) to deliver high-performance, power-efficient IP for advanced computing platforms.

Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include designing RTL, collaborating across teams, and supporting silicon validation and bring-up.
- Design and develop RTL for PCIe IP used across AMD products.
- Partner with architects and design teams to define and implement microarchitectural features.
- Drive RTL quality with a focus on timing closure, CDC analysis, lint compliance, and robustness.
- Implement and optimize low-power design techniques while balancing performance and functionality.
- Collaborate with verification engineers to support simulation, debug, validation, and issue resolution.
- Participate in silicon bring-up and debug post-silicon and customer-reported issues.
- Support and contribute to design reviews and continuous improvement of design methodologies.
Requirements
Required and preferred technical skills and domain experience.

Must-have:
- Proven ASIC/SoC digital design and RTL development experience using Verilog/SystemVerilog.
- Strong understanding of synchronous digital design and multi-clock domain implementations.
- Experience with lint, CDC, and timing analysis methodologies and tools.
- Ability to collaborate across architecture, verification, physical design, and silicon validation teams.
- Experience supporting simulation, debug, validation, and silicon bring-up activities.

Nice-to-have:
- Knowledge of high-speed interface protocols such as PCIe, USB, SATA, Ethernet, or similar.
- Familiarity with low-power design techniques and complete ASIC design flows.
- Hands-on hardware debug experience with lab equipment (logic analyzers, oscilloscopes).
- Experience producing technical specifications and microarchitecture documentation.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering Science, or a related field is required. A Master’s degree is preferred.
