Job Title

Digital Design Engineer

Role Summary

Join the Caen automotive SoC digital design team to develop and verify digital logic for complex system-on-chips and IP blocks. The role covers RTL implementation through integration, verification, and collaboration with architects, analog designers and software teams to meet performance, area and power targets.

Experience Level

Mid-level. Proven experience in digital ASIC/SoC design is expected; no specific years of experience were specified.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include design, verification and integration across the digital design flow.

  • Develop and implement RTL (Verilog/SystemVerilog) for SoCs and IP blocks per architectural and performance requirements.
  • Create testbenches, run simulations, and debug to ensure functional correctness and coverage.
  • Participate in synthesis, static timing analysis (STA), and formal verification to meet timing, area, and power targets.
  • Contribute to design-for-testability (DFT) implementation and verification.
  • Collaborate with architects, analog designers, and software teams to define interfaces and integrate digital blocks.
  • Produce comprehensive design documentation and participate in design reviews.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve design issues throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Stay updated with industry tools and methodologies relevant to digital design.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience. Education requirements are listed separately below.

  • Proven experience in digital ASIC/SoC design and familiarity with the complete design flow.
  • Proficiency in Verilog or SystemVerilog for RTL coding.
  • Experience with EDA tools for simulation, synthesis, STA, and formal verification.
  • Strong understanding of digital design principles including clocking, reset strategies, and low-power techniques.
  • Experience with DFT implementation and verification.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; excellent communication and teamwork abilities; fluency in English.
  • Ability to produce clear design documentation and participate effectively in reviews.

Nice-to-have:

  • Scripting skills (Python, Perl, Tcl).
  • Familiarity with communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, UART, PCIe, Ethernet.

Education Requirements

Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
