Job Title

Digital Design Engineer

Role Summary

Design and develop digital hardware products within Mission Systems, spanning concept, design, verification, production, and field support. Work focuses on FPGA-based digital subsystems, circuit card design, high-speed interfaces, and embedded processing in cross-functional teams.

Experience Level

Entry-level (approximately 2 years of engineering experience).

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Design and develop digital circuit cards and subsystems using FPGAs and embedded processors.
  • Create schematics, perform modeling and simulation, and support PCB-level integration and testing.
  • Prototype and debug complex digital systems; verify functionality at board and system level.
  • Translate system performance and operational specifications into hardware and test requirements.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Program Management to support production and fielding.
  • Maintain design documentation and follow revision-control and configuration-management processes.
  • Provide engineering support for production, verification, and field operations.

Requirements

Must-have and preferred skills (must-have items listed first):

  • Digital circuit design experience, including schematic capture through test and integration.
  • Experience with FPGA development and high-speed interfaces.
  • Hands-on prototyping and debug experience with complex digital subsystems.
  • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently and on teams.
  • Familiarity with documentation and revision-control tools (DOORS, ClearCase, ClearQuest) — preferred.
  • Experience with PCB/circuit tools such as Cadence Allegro, Mentor DxDesigner, or Expedition — preferred.
  • Working knowledge of electronic warfare systems — preferred.
  • Current Secret or Top-Secret clearance — preferred.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a similar engineering discipline with a minimum of 2 years of engineering experience, or a Master's degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering. Advanced degrees are preferred.
