Semiconductor IP Jobs, Level - Mid-Career

Job Title

Digital Design

Role Summary

Design, develop, and validate digital semiconductor IP for products used in electronic communications. Work includes RTL design, microarchitecture review, RTL-to-RTL equivalency checks, static analysis, and delivery of IP with quality signoff.

Collaborate with verification engineers to create test plans, achieve coverage goals, and track development metrics through IP release.

Experience Level

Mid-level.

Responsibilities

Key engineering responsibilities for delivering production-quality IP:

  • Implement and modify RTL for digital IP and microarchitecture features.
  • Review IP microarchitecture and interface specifications with architects and senior engineers.
  • Replace custom-coded hardware structures with standardized solutions for clock-domain crossing, DFT, clocks, and resets.
  • Run RTL-to-RTL logic equivalency checks (LEC) and perform design quality checks (Lint, CDC analysis, static timing analysis, reset domain crossing).
  • Use IP release tools to document correctness and produce quality signoff evidence.
  • Partner with verification to develop test plans and achieve target functional and code coverage.
  • Track development metrics: milestones, coverage, and defect tickets.
  • Deliver completed IP including RTL, verification artifacts, and signoff documentation.

Requirements

Essential technical skills and tool experience:

  • Fluent in Python and C/C++.
  • RTL design using Verilog and SystemVerilog.
  • UVM and functional verification methodologies.
  • Understanding of computer architecture and microprocessor system design.
  • Experience with Synopsys Design Vision (Design Compiler/implementation flows).
  • Digital integrated circuit design and digital systems design experience.
  • Experience with static timing analysis, linting, CDC/RDC analysis, and RTL equivalency checks.

Education Requirements

Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering (including VLSI) or Physics, or foreign equivalent. Candidates with equivalent graduate-level coursework, thesis work, internship experience, or relevant occupational experience that provides the listed skills will also be considered.
