Diffusion Equipment Engineer
Role Summary
Install, qualify, maintain, optimize and develop diffusion (DIFI) equipment for semiconductor manufacturing at Micron's Boise main site. Work with process, maintenance, and vendor teams to troubleshoot equipment, improve uptime, and support yield and safety goals.
Experience Level
Mid-level. The posting requests 2+ years of industry experience as an equipment owner working with diffusion equipment; the role carries senior-level responsibilities.
Responsibilities
Primary duties focus on ensuring diffusion equipment meets qualification, performance, and production needs.
- Install and qualify diffusion equipment in a production cleanroom.
- Perform equipment performance monitoring, data analysis, preventative and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, and documentation.
- Collaborate with process engineers to identify and resolve equipment-related production issues.
- Manage projects to close hardware gaps and implement equipment upgrades using project management methods.
- Establish and maintain productive vendor relationships to improve equipment performance and supplier engagement.
- Develop and implement Total Productive Maintenance strategies.
Requirements
Must-have qualifications, followed by preferred skills.
- Minimum 2+ years industry experience as an Equipment Owner for diffusion tools.
- Hands-on experience with equipment installation, qualification, troubleshooting, preventative and corrective maintenance, and performance documentation.
- Experience applying data analysis to equipment performance and yield issues.
- Project management experience for hardware and equipment improvement projects.
- Willingness to travel internationally for onboarding and training.
- Good understanding of Agentic AI or willingness to learn Agentic AI to improve workflow efficiency.
Nice-to-have:
- Strong understanding of semiconductor fabrication processes and diffusion equipment.
- Analytical problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication and cross-functional teamwork skills.
- Proficiency in data science techniques and programming for equipment/data analysis.
Education Requirements
BS or MS in an engineering field, or equivalent military experience. An AAS is acceptable with 5+ years of industry experience.
