Application Solutions - Semiconductor Process & Device Simulations (TCAD)
SiemensJob Title
Application Solutions - Semiconductor Process & Device Simulations (TCAD)
Role Summary
Join the Calibre™ R&D team to develop and apply physics-based process and device simulation tools for advanced semiconductor manufacturing (logic, DRAM, 3D NAND, CIS, 3DIC). You will build and validate models, integrate them into simulation workflows, and collaborate with customers and cross-functional teams to solve real-world fabrication and device challenges.
Experience Level
Mid-level. The role targets experienced technical contributors with multiple years of industry or research experience in semiconductor process, device physics, or related modeling and simulation work.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include designing, implementing, and validating simulation and modeling solutions; collaborating with internal teams and customers; and delivering production-ready features on schedule.
- Develop physics-based models for semiconductor process and device behavior and implement them in simulation tools.
- Perform high-throughput numerical simulations and verification for advanced technology nodes and 3D integration.
- Integrate unit process modules (etch, deposition, CMP, implantation, anneal, etc.) into end-to-end workflows.
- Validate models against metrology data (optical scatterometry, ellipsometry, SEM/e-beam) and experimental results.
- Collaborate with customers and cross-functional teams to define requirements and deliver solutions.
- Estimate task complexity and timelines; manage deliverables to meet schedules.
- Document methods, results, and provide technical support for deployments and customer engagements.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and attributes for successful candidates.
- Strong background in semiconductor fabrication processes and unit process behaviors (plasma dry etch, wet etch/clean, CVD, PVD, ALD, CMP, epitaxy, ion implantation, annealing, etc.).
- Experience with semiconductor device physics, carrier transport, and multi-physics coupling (reliability concerns such as BTI, TDDB, SHE, EM/IR considered a plus).
- Experience with semiconductor metrology techniques (scatterometry, ellipsometry, SEM/e-beam) for model validation.
- Proven ability to create simplified, physics-based models from complex systems and implement them in simulation environments.
- Strong problem-solving skills, ability to estimate and deliver tasks on schedule, and effective verbal/written communication.
- Collaborative mindset and experience working with customers or cross-disciplinary teams.
Education Requirements
PhD in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related technical field is preferred. Alternatively, MS plus 5+ years of relevant research or industry experience is acceptable. Equivalent practical experience in semiconductor process/device modeling is also recognized.
