Diagnostic Design Engineering Intern
Role Summary
The Diagnostics team develops tests and suites that exercise and validate hardware blocks for AMD processors. As an intern you will design, implement and verify diagnostic tests, debug hardware and software issues, assist with ASIC bring-up, and build automation to support qualification and production test flows.
Experience Level
Internship — intended for current university students based in Singapore. Scheduled internship period: 4 Jan 2027 to 28 May 2027, with an optional extension ending 6 Aug 2027.
Responsibilities
Primary tasks for this role include:
- Design, implement and verify diagnostics tests used in processor qualification and production test suites.
- Debug hardware and software problems; investigate diagnostics source code at system level using C++ in a Linux environment.
- Analyze fall-out boards to identify opportunities to improve test time, effectiveness, and efficiency.
- Assist in ASIC bring-up and support activities for data center/AI, gaming graphics, and embedded hardware products.
- Develop and debug automation tools and scripts to support testing and validation.
- Support customer issue resolution and provide technical troubleshooting.
Requirements
Technical skills and other eligibility (see Education Requirements for degree and enrollment specifics):
- Strong software programming skills: C++ and scripting.
- Experience with software development and debugging in Linux.
- Familiarity with PC/system, GPU and CPU hardware architectures.
- Experience with source control systems (GIT, SVN, etc.).
- Ability to debug HW/SW issues and analyze test effectiveness; comfortable working with engineers across disciplines.
- Good problem-solving and communication skills.
Education Requirements
Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s program in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related technical field at a Singapore-based university. Applicants must be current students and able to provide a placement/support letter covering the entire internship period.
