DFX CAD Tools Development Engineer

Role Summary

The role develops and maintains CAD tools and automated flows for Design for Test (DFT) and Design for Power (DFP) used across NVIDIA semiconductor projects. The engineer implements modular, object-oriented tool components and collaborates with methodology, implementation and design teams to integrate flows into chip designs.

Experience Level

Entry-level — 2+ years of relevant work experience.

Responsibilities

Deliver software and automated flows that enable DFT and DFP methodologies for ASIC designs.

• Architect and implement automated, customizable design flows using modular and object-oriented techniques.
• Develop and maintain tools in C++, and scripting in Python or TCL.
• Provide DFT and DFP methodologies and integrate flows into project designs.
• Work cross-functionally with DFT Methodology, Implementation, and design teams to define and deliver tool features.
• Apply software engineering practices: design, algorithms, testing, and quality assurance.
• Support debugging, performance tuning, and tool validation on real chip projects.

Requirements

Key skills and experience required or strongly preferred.

• Strong C++ programming experience (must-have).
• Software engineering skills: software design, algorithms, testing and QA (must-have).
• Programming or scripting experience in Python or TCL (desired).
• Familiarity with Verilog, VLSI and ASIC design principles, including logic cells (preferred).
• Knowledge or experience with DFT and DFP methodologies (preferred).
• Familiarity with GenAI, LLMs, or AI-assisted code generation (plus).
• Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills to work across teams.

Education Requirements

BE or BTech or MTech in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
