DfT Technical Student (Digital Design & DFT Engineering Intern)

Role Summary

Join the Digital Design team in Catania to support digital integrated circuit design, verification, and Design-for-Test (DFT) activities. This internship is intended for a student project or Master's thesis and involves hands-on work with experienced engineers on semiconductor design and testability challenges.

Experience Level

Internship / Student level. Suitable for a Master's student working on a thesis project; no minimum professional experience required.

Responsibilities

Support engineering tasks across digital design and DFT; perform analysis, validation, and documentation under guidance from senior engineers.

  • Contribute to digital IC design, verification, and DFT activities.
  • Support development and evaluation of DFT architectures, algorithms, and methodologies.
  • Analyze digital circuits to improve testability, coverage, and diagnosis capabilities.
  • Implement and validate DFT solutions using industry-standard EDA tools.
  • Conduct research and technical investigations; analyze simulation and test data.
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and thesis-related documentation.
  • Participate in technical reviews and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

  • Interest in semiconductor technologies, digital IC design, and test methodologies.
  • Good understanding of digital electronics fundamentals, logic design, and computer architecture concepts.
  • Basic programming skills (Python, C/C++ or similar).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Motivated, curious, and eager to learn in a technical environment.
  • Nice-to-have: Familiarity with hardware description languages (Verilog, SystemVerilog, or VHDL); prior exposure to EDA tools and digital verification flows.

Education Requirements

Currently pursuing a Master's degree (thesis) in Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field. Opportunity to structure the internship as a Master's thesis project. No certifications specified; equivalent academic research orientation expected.
