Job Title

DFT Senior Engineer

Role Summary

Work on ASIC/SoC design-for-test (DFT) within Qualcomm's ASICS Engineering team. Define, model, design (digital and/or analog), verify, validate, and document IP blocks and SoC implementation to meet performance, power, and quality targets.

Experience Level

Senior - role expects an experienced engineer (typically 3+ years ASIC/DFT-related experience or equivalent demonstrated expertise).

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include designing and enabling testability for ASIC blocks and SoCs, collaborating across hardware and software teams, and owning verification and implementation tasks.

  • Define architectures, circuit specifications, logic designs, and system simulations from system requirements.
  • Apply DFT and ASIC knowledge to design, optimize, verify, validate, implement, and document IP or SoC blocks.
  • Evaluate and influence the full implementation flow: synthesis, place & route, timing, power, and verification.
  • Use design and implementation tools (e.g., RTL-to-GDS flow, Virtuoso) to execute block/SoC design deliverables.
  • Develop and apply design verification and validation methods; create technical documentation for EDA/IP/ASIC projects.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define implementation strategies that meet system requirements and customer needs.

Requirements

Must-have core skills and experience; preferred items noted separately.

  • Practical ASIC experience in design, verification, validation, or integration (demonstrated in prior roles).
  • Experience with architecture and design tools and RTL-to-GDS implementation flows.
  • Familiarity with DFT methodologies and design verification approaches.
  • Proficiency with scripting and programming languages for automation and verification.
  • Ability to work independently, communicate verbally and in writing, and produce technical documentation.
  • Cross-team collaboration skills to align hardware, software, and system-level requirements.
  • Nice-to-have: experience with Cadence tools, ATPG, and automation frameworks.

Education Requirements

Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or related field plus 2+ years ASIC experience; OR Master's degree in Science, Engineering, or related field plus 1+ year ASIC experience; OR PhD in Science, Engineering, or related field (no minimum experience specified). Preferred: Master’s in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science. The posting also accepts equivalent practical experience in lieu of degree-based timelines.
