DFT Engineer

Role Summary

Implement and validate design-for-test features at block and chip level, develop ATPG and ATE patterns, and support silicon bring-up and yield analysis. Work closely with design, verification, implementation, ATE and product teams to improve testability and production yield.

Experience Level

Senior - typically 6+ years (with a Master’s) or 8+ years (with a Bachelor’s) of related experience.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

• Implement block- and chip-level DFT: MBIST, scan insertion, logic insertion, and scan compression.
• Develop and execute ATPG and pattern simulation for MBIST and scan.
• Create ATE patterns, manage hand-off to ATE, and perform silicon debugging.
• Analyze yield and collaborate with ATE engineers on yield improvement.
• Perform DFT lint checking and contribute to MBIST architecture and insertion.
• Collaborate with design, verification, implementation, ATE and product development teams during DFT design and silicon bring-up.
• Analyze and debug simulation failures and silicon issues.
• Contribute to enhancements of DFT design methodology and tool flows.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience:

• Proven experience in silicon bring-up and yield improvement.
• Strong knowledge of DFT techniques, RTL lint checking, scan compression, scan insertion, and ATPG flows.
• Experience with MBIST architecture and MBIST insertion.
• Experience analyzing and debugging simulation failures and silicon issues.
• Solid understanding of digital logic fundamentals.
• Proficiency with Mentor Tessent and/or Synopsys DFT and simulation tool suites.
• Proficiency in Perl or other scripting languages for automation.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-have:

• Experience developing STA constraints for DFT modes.

Education Requirements

Bachelor of Engineering plus 8+ years of related experience, or Master’s degree plus 6+ years of related experience.
