Job Title
DFT Engineer
Role Summary
Implement, verify, and support design-for-test (DFT) features and ATPG for SoC/ASIC designs. Collaborate with design, verification, and physical implementation teams to ensure testability, debug test failures, and deliver test collateral for production silicon.
Experience Level
Mid-level β typically requires 5+ years of hands-on experience in DFT and ATPG for SoC or ASIC designs.
Responsibilities
Primary duties include DFT insertion, ATPG, memory test, IO validation, and DFT feature verification across the design flow.
- Perform DFT insertion (scan) and related verification activities.
- Generate, analyze, and debug ATPG test patterns for logic and memories.
- Design, verify, and diagnose MBIST and memory test architectures, including repair flows.
- Validate IO test methodologies and high-speed interface pin-level tests.
- Implement and verify clock DFT and related clock verification tasks.
- Work with place-and-route and timing teams to produce test timing collateral.
- Verify DFT features such as JTAG/Boundary Scan and IJTAG (IEEE 1687) where applicable.
- Document test plans, debug findings, and provide clear handoffs to manufacturing/test teams.
Requirements
Concise list of must-have skills and useful additional capabilities.
-
Must-have: 5+ years practical experience in DFT and ATPG for SoC/ASIC; strong understanding of DFT fundamentals (controllability, observability, scan-based testing); proven ATPG pattern generation, analysis, and debug skills; MBIST knowledge and memory diagnostics; IO test methodologies; clock DFT concepts; solid RTL and digital design fundamentals; experience with industry-standard DFT/ATPG EDA tools; strong analytical and communication skills.
-
Nice-to-have: Familiarity with Siemens Tessent (DFT tool suite); MBIST repair implementation and verification experience; experience with IJTAG (IEEE 1687), ICL/PDL concepts; boundary scan/JTAG verification; experience generating test timing and place-and-route collaterals; high-speed IO testing experience.
