Job Title
DFT Engineer
Role Summary
Design and verify Design-for-Test (DFT) and Design-for-Debug (DFD) features for complex, high-performance SoCs. Work cross-functionally with architecture, RTL, firmware, and verification teams to enable efficient silicon validation, bring-up, and debug across the product lifecycle. Hybrid position based in Austin, TX.
Experience Level
Mid-level. The posting does not state a specific years-of-experience requirement.
Responsibilities
Deliver DFX solutions from design through verification and silicon bring-up, and support debugging and validation activities.
- Collaborate with architects, hardware, and firmware engineers to define and implement DFX/DFD features.
- Design and integrate DFX logic into complex SoC RTL.
- Create and maintain test plans that account for interactions with hardware, firmware, and software drivers.
- Estimate test development effort and required changes to test environments.
- Develop directed and constrained-random verification tests; review functional and code coverage and adjust tests to meet targets.
- Debug test failures, identify root causes, and work with RTL and firmware teams to resolve issues.
- Support post-silicon bring-up, validation, and ATE debug activities.
Requirements
Key technical and team expectations. Must-have items are listed first, followed by useful additional skills.
-
Must-have: Experience with DFT and DFD architecture, design, and verification; strong familiarity with JTAG, LBIST, MBIST, Scan, and ATPG; hands-on experience with RTL and firmware debugging; proven ASIC/IP verification experience; solid SystemVerilog and UVM knowledge; proficiency in Verilog/SystemVerilog.
-
Must-have: Ability to work collaboratively across distributed teams and to produce clear test plans and verification artifacts.
-
Nice-to-have: Familiarity with Tessent (Scan and ATPG), test pattern generation and ATE bring-up, post-silicon validation experience, SystemC and C++, automation in distributed compute environments, static timing analysis and constraints, ICL/PDL exposure, scripting (Perl, Ruby, Makefile, shell), and prior leadership or mentorship experience.
-
Location and authorization: Role is based in Austin, TX. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship; candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
Education Requirements
