DFT Engineer
QualcommJob Title
DFT Engineer
Role Summary
The DFT Engineer contributes to ASIC/SoC design-for-test activities within the ASICS Engineering team. The role focuses on modeling, implementing, verifying, and documenting DFT features and collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet performance, power, and quality targets.
Experience Level
Mid-level. The posting lists preferred experience of 6+ months with architecture/design tools, scripting, and verification; hires range from early-career to more experienced engineers.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Support definition, modeling, design, optimization, verification, validation, and documentation of IP (block/SoC) DFT implementations.
- Assist in creating architectures, circuit specifications, logic designs, and system simulations based on requirements.
- Collaborate on implementation strategies to meet system and customer requirements.
- Support evaluation of design flows from RTL to GDS (synthesis, place and route, timing and power) and/or custom circuit design/layout flows.
- Utilize EDA and implementation tools (for example, RTL-to-GDS flows and Virtuoso) to execute architecture and design tasks.
- Write technical documentation for EDA/IP/ASIC and DFT projects.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- Practical ASIC/DFT knowledge and familiarity with design verification methods.
- Experience with architecture and design tools and with scripting/programming languages (preferred: 6+ months).
- Familiarity with synthesis, place-and-route, timing and power analysis, or custom circuit/layout flows.
- Ability to work under supervision, perform multi-step tasks, and communicate technical information clearly in writing and verbally.
- Ability to produce clear technical documentation.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with low-power design, advanced timing/power optimization, or specific EDA tools used in ASIC flows.
Education Requirements
Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or a related field. Preferred: Master's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
