Job Title

DFT Engineer

Role Summary

Work on design-for-test (DFT) implementation and validation for ASIC/IP blocks and SoCs. The role focuses on scan insertion, ATPG coverage, timing for test modes, and automation to deliver production-ready testability for high-performance, low-power silicon.

You'll collaborate with RTL designers, verification, and physical implementation teams to define and apply DFT strategies, debug test failures, and deliver test vectors and documentation.

Experience Level

Mid-level. Typically requires around 2+ years of ASIC/DFT experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include implementing and validating DFT for ASIC blocks and SoCs:

  • Perform scan insertion and ATPG flow execution, analyze test coverage and transition-delay coverage.
  • Define test-mode timing constraints and provide timing fixes or corrective actions for violations.
  • Create and simulate test vectors; debug test failures and coverage gaps.
  • Develop and maintain automation and scripts to support DFT flows.
  • Run equivalence checks and DFT rule checks using RTL lint and ATPG tools.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (RTL, verification, physical) and document test strategies and results.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and professional attributes:

  • 2+ years of hands-on ASIC/DFT experience, including practical use of ATPG and scan methodologies.
  • In-depth knowledge of DFT concepts, scan insertion, ATPG, coverage analysis, and transition delay testing.
  • Experience defining test-mode timing constraints and resolving timing violations.
  • Proficiency with scripting languages (Perl, shell) for automation.
  • Experience simulating test vectors and performing equivalence checks and DFT DRC analysis (RTL lint and ATPG tools).
  • Strong problem-solving, multi-tasking, and communication skills; ability to work in international teams.
  • Nice-to-have: practical experience with Synopsys TetraMax/DFTMax and Cadence Encounter Test.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or a related field is required.
