DFT Engineer (ATPG & SSN – Streaming Scan Network)
Role Summary
Contract DFT engineer responsible for implementing and validating test architectures for block and SoC designs. The role focuses on scan insertion, ATPG, gate-level simulation, and post-silicon diagnosis to ensure manufacturable and debuggable silicon.
Works closely with Synthesis, STA, Physical Design, and test teams during design signoff and silicon bring-up. Location: San Jose, CA. Duration: 12 months (contract).
Experience Level
Senior — 10+ years of relevant DFT/ATPG experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include test implementation, verification, and cross-team defect resolution.
- Implement DFT structures including Scan insertion and Streaming Scan Network (SSN).
- Generate and verify ATPG patterns; perform gate-level simulations to validate test patterns.
- Perform coverage analysis, MBIST validation, and debug ATPG/silicon failures.
- Execute post-silicon diagnosis and support silicon bring-up with test engineering teams.
- Collaborate with Synthesis, STA, and Physical Design to resolve DFT-related issues affecting timing, area, or manufacturability.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience, plus a short list of preferred skills.

Must-have: 10+ years of DFT/ATPG experience, including scan design, ATPG flow, and post-silicon debug at block and SoC levels.

Must-have: Hands-on experience with Synopsys TetraMAX, VCS, Verdi, and Synopsys DC/Fusion Compiler.

Must-have: Experience verifying test patterns using gate-level simulations and debugging ATPG failures.

Nice-to-have: Deep expertise in Scan, JTAG, developing DFT architectures and specifications.

Nice-to-have: Experience with MBIST, coverage analysis, silicon failure analysis, and TCL scripting for automation.
