DFT Engineer
QualcommJob Title
DFT Engineer
Role Summary
Implement and deliver design-for-test (DFT) solutions across the full custom silicon lifecycle, from architecture planning through silicon qualification and customer delivery. The role works within the Hardware Engineering organization and partners closely with RTL, physical design, test, and product engineering teams.
Experience Level
Mid-level (3β12 years of relevant DFT / hardware engineering experience).
Responsibilities
Deliver DFT architectures and verification for complex SoC designs and support silicon qualification.
- Define and implement DFT architectures and early planning activities.
- Insert and validate scan chains and MBIST using industry-standard EDA tools.
- Generate test patterns and perform fault simulation and ATPG-based verification.
- Collaborate with RTL, physical design, and test engineering to resolve DFT issues.
- Document DFT architecture, verification plans, and results.
- Lead implementation efforts and act as the primary DFT point of contact for internal teams and customers.
- Support silicon bring-up, qualification, and customer handoff activities.
Requirements
Core technical skills and demonstrable DFT delivery experience; degree requirements summarized separately below.
- 3β12 years of hands-on DFT experience, including full-chip implementations and team collaboration.
- Proven experience leading DFT implementation and guiding smaller teams or project workstreams.
- Deep knowledge of advanced DFT techniques (scan, MBIST, ATPG, fault simulation, pattern generation).
- Practical experience with industry-standard EDA tools for DFT insertion and verification.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams (RTL, PD, test/product engineering) to deliver silicon.
- Nice to have: driving DFT on large designs, in-system test, SSN or multi-die testing, silicon debug, and tool/methodology development related to DFT.
Education Requirements
Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or a related field plus 3+ years of hardware engineering/DFT experience; OR Master's degree in those fields plus 2+ years; OR PhD plus 1+ year. Indian degree equivalents (BTech/MTech) are mentioned. Equivalent practical experience is accepted where specified.
